Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of I-message and self disclosure training on female college student¡¯s self-efficacy and stress coping behavior.

Methods: A quasi-experimental research of a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design was used. The subjects were 91 female students attending W college in I city(experimental group=45, control group=46). Data was collected from October, 2007 to June, 2008. The experimental group received I-message and self disclosure training once a week for 60 minutes for 6 weeks.

Results: The scores of self-efficacy, and active stress coping behaviors were significantly increased after I-message and self disclosure training in the experimental group. Self-efficacy showed a significantly positive correlation to active stress coping behavior. There was a significantly negative correlation between active stress coping behavior and passive stress coping behavior and cryptic stress coping behavior.

Conclusion: I-message and self disclosure training showed positive effects on improving self-efficacy and active stress coping behavior. Therefore, we recommend this training be utilized as an effective self expression method for interpersonal relationships among female college students.
